Where do you work?
I work at a company called SPP as the Marketing and Sales Manager.
How long have you been involved with Women Unite!?
I have been involved with Women Unite since the ol’ days of our monthly fundraisers at Hopewell Brewing :)
What do you like most about WU!?
WU! brewed a beer with Dryhop, was highlighted at a sold out Girl Talk at the Hideout, helped run a bake sale with Ace Hotel / City Mouse, on top of our annual events like Plantasia and anniversary party. One of the best parts of WU! is how it connects businesses with their communities and the non-profits doing incredible work in Chicago.
What’s an issue you care deeply about? Why?
The history of disability rights activists and organizers is incredibly vast as they have had MAJOR roles in many social justice movements like labor, healthcare, education, housing, and racial equality. I think the best spaces are accessible, and the best people work to make it that way.
What’s a hobby you have?
I snowboard and want to (re)learn how to ski.
What gives you hope?
K-pop fans
What are 2–3 ways you’ve been getting through this pandemic?
I try to make one complicated meal a week and one nostalgic meal a week. One day I will make a short rib ragu with homemade pasta and the next day I will make sloppy joes, it’s balance.
What’s a fun or random fact you want to share?
Did you know that In the Land Before Time, the triceratops character is named “Cera” not Sarah, for TriCERAtop.
What’s one of your favorite local Chicago businesses?
The Hideout!
