What do you do?
I am a Psychologist. I work with adults experiencing a wide range of issues and specialize in trauma therapy.

How long have you been involved with Women Unite!?
I became a Board Member in July 2021.

What do you like most about WU!?
I love that WU! empowers partners with services and resources that can sustain long-term representation of female-identifying voices.

What’s an issue you care deeply about? Why?
Anecdotally through my career, I noticed that misogyny facilitates a culture of trauma that impacts individuals of all races, ethnicities, genders, and sexual orientations. I am committed to correcting myths associated with misogyny as well as victim-blaming as these forces perpetuate suppression and oppression.

What’s a hobby you have?
I love watching movies.

What gives you hope?
Having young children has reinforced the idea that it is more natural to accept, love, and respect people of all races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, backgrounds, etc. Prejudice is taught and I feel hopeful that future generations will continue to deprogram hate.

What are 2–3 ways you’ve been getting through this pandemic?
1) I have watched many shows. Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey, and Better Call Saul were favorites.
2) My family spent a lot of time outdoors regardless of the weather conditions.
3) Home improvement projects

Fun/random fact you want to share?
I did ballet, tap, jazz, and Indian dance for many years.

What’s one of your favorite local Chicago businesses?
Taqueria Traspasada 2 has delicious tacos, burritos, and coctel de camarones.
