Meet the WU! Crew

she/her/hers

Where do you work?
I’m a grant writer and development consultant for nonprofits and social enterprises.

What do you like most about Women Unite!?
I love being able to work on innovative projects that I feel genuinely connected to and to work with an organization like WU! that really takes a stance on the issues I care deeply about. As a social worker, I value being able to be part of the team working behind the scenes as we uplift the voices of Black and Brown communities. I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to empower grassroots nonprofits and help them to share their critical work.

What’s an issue you care deeply about? Why?
Hard to pick, but right now my head and heart are really invested in promoting access to reproductive healthcare after the recent Roe v. Wade catastrophe.

What’s a hobby you have?
I love to both read and write short stories, and I’m really into sci-fi based video games.

What gives you hope?
The nonprofit organizations I work with at WU!—I can’t emphasize enough how absolutely blown away I am by the innovative and effective programs that they are designing to dismantle and redesign broken systems in our country.

What are 2–3 ways you’ve been getting through this pandemic?
Spending quality time with my Sphynx cat Willow and my husband Dave, eating Portuguese food from our favorite spot right down the block (Otilia’s Cafe) and reading all the long fantasy/sci-fi book series I thought I would never have time to get to.

Fun/random fact you want to share?
I once met Debbie Harry from Blondie at a land conservation gala and can confirm she is as amazing as you would think.

What’s one of your favorite local businesses?
My good friend JoDee owns and operates an all women-staffed tattoo studio called Destiny Tattoo Studio in South Amboy, New Jersey—she and her team are wildly talented!
