Where do you work?
I’m a Grants and Development Contractor at WU! I help create content needed for fundraising and assist with grant writing.

How long have you been involved with Women Unite!?
I began in September 2021.

What do you like most about WU!?
I wanted to be part of WU! because I was tired of organizational politics and constant red tape that would prevent me from doing creative, meaningful work. I love being candid and open with my colleagues at WU!, and know that I will get the same in return. They are respectful and collaborative, and I’ve already learned a lot in a short time.

What’s an issue you care deeply about? Why?
I LOVE education. I met my husband in grad school. We’re both curious people who want to know about everything. But higher education is becoming a luxury for the wealthy. So many go into tremendous amounts of debt trying to better their lives. College should be free and student debt canceled.

What’s a hobby you have?
I enjoy DIY projects around my house and the art of cross-stitching.

What gives you hope?
That there are good people with the drive and heart to fight for what’s right. It can be an exhausting fight, so sometimes we just have to keep our fingers crossed for Karma to do her worst.

What are 2–3 ways you’ve been getting through this pandemic?
1. having a baby and 2. catching up on the 39 seasons of Survivor I seem to have missed. You know, typical pandemic things.

Fun/random fact you want to share?
I live in Oklahoma City! I lived just outside of Chicago for several years but had to move home to OKC to be near family. Chicago is my favorite city and is still home to some of my best friends.

What’s one of your favorite local Chicago businesses?
Chicago has the best FOOD. I miss the restaurants and different types of cuisine.
