Where do you work?
I am the Executive Director of Sista Afya Community Care (SACC), NFP. I provide administration of SACC’s programs and services in addition to capacity building the organization.
What is one thing you’ve enjoyed about your partnership with Women Unite!?
The support with thinking big picture and structuring our organization so we can be sustainable and impactful. It’s great as an Executive Director to have additional support and to have direction about ways we can improve our organization from experienced professionals.
What’s an issue you care deeply about?
Mental Health Equity. I believe that every person deserves quality, accessible mental wellness care. Especially those who experience multiple barriers to care.
What’s a hobby you have?
Cooking. I’m a foodie and love exploring new recipes and cooking cuisine from all around the world.
What gives you hope?
Seeing all the positive things that people are doing during this time. The pandemic has impacted so many people, but through it all many folks, businesses, and organizations are being a part of the change we need to see while also making our world a better place.
What are 2–3 ways you’ve been getting through this pandemic?
Spending more time in stillness. Being intentional about what I choose to do. Reading a wide range of books on my kindle and listening to pop culture podcasts.
Fun/random fact you want to share?
I love track and field. I ran in high school and get super pumped when the world championships come up and of course the Olympics.
