Where do you work?
I’m the Founder and Executive Director of Gyrls In The H.O.O.D. Foundation, where I create programming and services to educate, empower, and encourage gyrls in the hood.

What’s one thing you’re looking forward to about your partnership with Women Unite!?
I’m looking forward to strengthening operations and increasing capacity for our organization.

What’s an issue (social or political issue) you care deeply about? Why?
Whew! What a question. I care about improving the conditions plaguing gyrls who are marginalized, neglected, and objectified. Improving reproductive health outcomes of black gyrls and women is very important to me. The current racist healthcare system causes extreme health disparities and preventable deaths amongst people of color.

This work is hard. What’s one way you take care of yourself?
I like to participate in practices where I call my energy back at the end of the day. I like simple things such as sitting on the porch and connecting with nature. A good Golden Girls marathon also does the trick!

What’s a hobby you have?
I enjoy reading, baking, and journaling.

What gives you hope?
The younger generations who are disrupting the status quo. I still believe that we can collectively make a change in this world.

Fun/random fact you want to share?
I’m very shy!

What’s one of your favorite local Chicago businesses?
B4 Beverage Company products gives me the fuel I need to keep going.
