Where do you work?
I’m the Director of Development at The Harbour, a Chicagoland shelter serving female and trans youth experiencing homelessness. I implement our general operating fundraising strategy, as well as the capital campaign to update our flagship shelter.

What is one thing you enjoy about your partnership with Women Unite!?
While interim executive director of Midwest Access Coalition, I really valued WU!’s patient and results-oriented approach. WU! supported our communications by creating useful templates and on-brand event materials. WU! also ran organizational trainings for our leadership.

What’s an issue you care deeply about?
I care about getting capital to people who are under-resourced. I want payday lending to be a thing of the past. Stop charging poor people for being poor.

What’s a hobby you have?
Making my own kombucha with my wife. It’s a rewarding project.

What gives you hope?
The Green New Deal, and the fact that it was 50 degrees this past weekend in Chicago.

What are 2–3 ways you’ve been getting through this pandemic?
A soup swap with local friends, takeout from San Soo Gab San and Chengdu Impression, The Glass Hotel by Emily St. John Mandel, and cooking through Dessert Person by Claire Saffitz

Fun/random fact you want to share?
I do the NYT Mini Crossword daily. My family competes against each other for the fastest solve time.

What’s one of your favorite local Chicago businesses?
I love how unpretentious Kopi Café is. And if you haven’t yet had it, order yourself the princess torte at M. Henry because it’s the best cake you’ll ever have.
